Reading Schedule for Reading through the Bible in a Year
This reading schedule gives you the opportunity to read both the Old Testament and the New Testament together in chronological order. You will be reading around three chapters a day – two in the Old Testament and one in the New Testament for most of the year. Each Sunday you will read three Psalms and one chapter of one of the other poetry books.
In order to get to know God better would you consider reading with your focus on God? It is an incredible thing to see how God gradually reveals His character, His plan and the way He works from the beginning to the end of time and has recorded it in Scripture. If you have an Establishing God's Peace Prayer Journal you will have a place to record the praises each day.
In order to keep your focus on God you may want to mark each mention of Him as you read. Consider using a simple symbol such as a triangle or underline with a normal ball point pen that doesn’t bleed through the page. When you are finished reading you can look back and see e2ach mention of Him. Ask God to show you what one thing to write down about Him and then spend time throughout the day praising Him for that attribute.
If you write one thing down each day, at the end of the year you will
have 365 ways to praise God. May you use this opportunity to grow by His grace in trusting Him to be who He says He is as you seek Him and find Him.
* A special encouragement. If you get behind in reading, don’t try to catch up. Always read what is set for that day. If you miss some chapters you can read them next year when you read through again. It also helps to read the same thing as someone else so you can talk about it and encourage each other.
