Be Blessed In Christ
TNIV Scripture for Wednesday, July 16, 2008 [Psalm 1:1-6]
Blessed are those who do not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but who delight in the law of the LORD and meditate on his law day and night. They are like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither--whatever they do prospers. Not so the wicked! They are like chaff that the wind blows away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the assembly of the righteous. For the LORD watches over the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will be destroyed.
According to Romans 3:10, "There is none who is righteous, not even one..." When you were born into this fallen world, you were unrighteous. God's standard for righteousness was so high that you could not reach His standard. That is why Christ came and died for sin. When you acknowledge your inability to attain righteousness and accept Christ's death for your own sin you are born again and receive a new live spirit in place of your old dead spirit. This live spirit does not want "to walk in step with the wicked" or "sit in company of mockers," but delights and meditates on God's law and is blessed of God and the Lord watches over your way. In Christ, you become like "a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither..." spiritually speaking. Life is full of ups and down, but you can weather them well in the Lord and be blessed and live a righteous life in Christ.
