There Is A Day Coming
TNIV Scripture for Friday, August 22, 2008 [1 Corinthians 3:11-14]
For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person's work. If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward.
The Bible is clear that there is a Day coming when believers will be judged. If you are a believer, this judgment has nothing to do with your salvation (justification), that was decided the day you accepted Christ. The Day Paul wrote about in 1 Corinthians 3 is the Day you will receive your rewards for how you spent your life here on earth as a Christ follower. Wood, hay and stubble represent fleshly self driven works, while gold silver and costly stones represent God directed and empowered works. God's judgment fire will burn all your good works and only those done by God's grace will remain and result in a reward. May you learn to live and walk by God's grace and receive a great reward in that day!*
*EGP courses are designed to teach you how to live grace driven lives.
