God Calls Individuals to "Go"

TNIV Scripture for Thursday, September 4, 2008 [Genesis 12:1-3]

The LORD had said to Abram, 'Go from your country, your people and your father's household to the land I will show you. 'I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.'

Just as God called Abram to begin a new journey in a new land, God still calls individuals today to "go." When Jesus left the earth and ascended into the clouds, He gave a clear command for every believer  to "go" and make disciples.

Matthew 28:18-20

"And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and  the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.""

My prayer is that you will hear and heed God's call on your life to "go." That may be as easy as going to visit a neighbor or going to teach a class or as hard as going on a mission trip across the world. Whatever it means for you, as you surrender yourself to God's call, you will be blessed!
