Wrath of the Lamb [Revelation 6]

15Then the kings of the earth and the great men and the commanders and the rich and the strong and every slave and free man hid themselves in the caves and among the rocks of the mountains;16and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, "Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb; 17for the great day of their wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"

How do you deal with all the death and mayhem of Revelation 6? And this isn't all the destruction and violence, there will be much more as we continue to read this prophecy of Jesus leading up to the final days on earth. Death and judgment are part of God's plan. But how does that fit with the God who loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for us?

The Bible teaches that God is love and He is just. He cannot act outside of His nature. When Jesus died on the cross, God demonstrated His love by giving His only Son to die for our sins. However, the fact that someone had to die for the sin, showed that God is just in dealing with sin. The cross is a beautiful symbol of how all of God's nature comes together. Therefore, when we read these difficult words in Revelation, remember the cross and fix your eyes on Jesus who is our refuge and source of hope.

We praise You that You will destroy evil and recreate a holy perfect world for us who love You and trust in Jesus. Make us ready for whatever is to come in our lives and cause us to keep our eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
