Heaven Is His Throne [Isaiah 65-66]
1
Thus says the LORD,
"Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool
Where then is a house you could build for Me?
And where is a place that I may rest?
2
"For My hand made all these things,
Thus all these things came into being," declares the LORD
"But to this one I will look,
To him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My word.
How can it be that someone whose throne is heaven and whose footstool is earth care about me? I have nothing to offer to the Creator of all things and even at my very best, I am a mess! But amazingly, God looks to the one who is humble and knows that she (or he) is a mess. God embraces the contrite of spirit who fears Him and His Word.
We praise You, God, that You call those of us who are weak and who know how desperately we need You. Cause us to trust that, You, the God of the universe, who made every star, planet and moon throughout the vastness of space, love us. Keep us in Your Word and keep us humble, contrite of spirit and trembling at Your Word by Your amazing grace. Thank you for the grace of Jesus who was rich and became poor so that we who are poor could be rich in You.
