Let the Truth Burst Out [Luke 19]

33As they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying the colt?" 34They said, "The Lord has need of it."

 35They brought it to Jesus, and they threw their coats on the colt and put Jesus on it. 36As He was going, they were spreading their coats on the road. 37As soon as He was approaching, near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole crowd of the disciples began to praise God joyfully with a loud voice for all the miracles which they had seen,

 38shouting:

  "BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD;
         Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

 39Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, rebuke Your disciples." 40But Jesus answered, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

Have you ever been part of a crowd when everyone burst out saying the same thing in unison?  It is amazing when it happens.  At my youngest daughter's wedding two weeks ago something similar happened.  We were all so caught up in the joy and the magic of the moment that when they turned and faced us to be announced as man and wife the crowd spontaneously stood up and started clapping.  It was if we couldn't contain ourselves, and it seemed to happen at the very same instance in each person's heart.

I think that is what happened to the crowd of disciples when they say Jesus riding into Jerusalem on the colt.  They all were moved and started shouting the same Scripture verse in unison.  "BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"  Their hearts were full as they saw Him and thought about the "miracles which they had seen" and it was if it suddenly dawned on them who Jesus was!  It had to be spoken.  And as Jesus told the Pharisees, "I tell you, if these become silent, the stones will cry out!"

In response we cry out today that which needs to be spoken - "BLESSED IS THE KING WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD; Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"  Jesus, You are my King.  You are the Son of God! You have done miracles in my life!
