Remember What He Did in Egypt [Deuteronomy 7]

16"You shall consume all the peoples whom the LORD your God will deliver to you; your eye shall not pity them, nor shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you. 17"If you should say in your heart, 'These nations are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?' 18you shall not be afraid of them; you shall well remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt: 19the great trials which your eyes saw and the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the LORD your God brought you out. So shall the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. 20"Moreover, the LORD your God will send the hornet against them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you perish. 21"You shall not dread them, for the LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. 22"The LORD your God will clear away these nations before you little by little; you will not be able to put an end to them quickly, for the wild beasts would grow too numerous for you. 23"But the LORD your God will deliver them before you, and will throw them into great confusion until they are destroyed.

What are you facing today?  Are you dealing with things that are overwhelming?  Are you saying in your heart that these things "are greater than I; how can I dispossess them?" Have you forgotten who God is and what He has done in the psst?   The only way to go forward without fear is to remember the Lord your God.  Remember that He  "is in your midst, a great and awesome God."

Remember Egypt - that place where we lived without God.  When we lived there, in slavery to sin, we had a Redeemer doing incredible things to free us. Remember "the signs and the wonders and the mighty hand and the outstretched arm by which the LORD your God brought you out."  Consider Jesus, our Passover who rescued us from the kingdom of darkness and brought us into His marvelous light.  Now in that light He is calling us to clear away the things that threaten to pull us back into darkness,  Not in one fell swoop but "little by little," letting the LORD our God deliver us in a way that protects us at the same time.

Lord, You are great and awesome.  You are able to send a hornet or anything You want to deal with the enemy thoughts that we are tempted to camp with.  You are the One that will deliver us. Cause us to be willing to let You destroy them completely without hanging onto any part that can snare us.  Thank You that You are in our midst, that Your Spirit lives in us and empowers us to remember You, what You did in our Egypt and how You fought for us. Thank You, Jesus.
