Psalm 140 – NIV & the Message
 1-5 God, get _______out of here, away from this evil; protect _______ from these vicious people.
   All they do is think up new ways to be bad;
      they spend their days plotting war games.
   They practice the sharp rhetoric of hate and hurt,
      speak venomous words that maim and kill.
   God, keep _____ out of the clutch of these wicked ones,
      protect ______ from these vicious people;
   Stuffed with self-importance, they plot ways to trip _____ up,
      determined to bring _____ down.
   These crooks invent traps to catch _____
      and do their best to incriminate him/her.

 6-8 Oh Lord, may ____ say to you, “You are my God. “
      Listen, God! Mercy!
   God, my Lord, Strong Savior,
      protect __________when the fighting breaks out!
   Don't let the wicked have their way, God,
      don't give them an inch!" 9-11 These troublemakers all around
      let them drown in their own verbal poison.
   Let God pile hellfire on them,
      let him bury them alive in crevasses!
   These loudmouths—
      don't let them be taken seriously;
   These savages—
      let the Devil hunt them down!

 12-13 May _______ know that you, God, are on the side of victims,
      that you care for the rights of the poor.

Psalm 141 – The Message & NIV


O LORD, may he/she call to you; come quickly to ______.
       Hear ______’s voice when he/she calls to you.
 2 Treat his/her prayers as sweet incense rising;
       his/her raised hands are his/her evening prayers.
 3 Set a guard over ________’s mouth, O LORD;
       keep watch over the door of his/her lips.
 4 Let not _______’s heart be drawn to what is evil,
       to take part in wicked deeds
       with men who are evildoers;
       let them not lure _________ with their sweet talk.
 5 May the Just one set him/her straight.
       May the kind one correct him/her; Don’t let sin anoint his/her head.

Psalm 142

      you know how he/she’s feeling,

      the traps hidden in his/her path.
   Look right, look left—
      there's not a soul who cares what happens!
   He/she’s up against it, with no exit— left alone.
   May _____cry out, GOD, 'You're my last chance, my only hope for life!'
   Listen to _______’s cry;
      He/she has never been this low. ______is in desperate need:
   Rescue _______from those who pursue him/her

Psalm 143

 1 O LORD, hear his/her prayer,
       listen to his/her cry for mercy;
       in your faithfulness and righteousness
       come to _______’s relief.
 2 Do not bring him/her into judgment,
       for no one living is righteous before you.
 3 The enemy pursues _____,
       he crushes him/her to the ground;
       he makes him/her dwell in darkness
       like those long dead.
 4 So his/her spirit grows faint within him/her;

 5 He/she remembered the old days, went over all you’ve done;
       Pondered the ways you’ve worked, stretch out his/her hands to you,as thirsty for you as a desert thirsty for rain.

Psalm 144

Praise be to the Lord ________’s Rock.

He's the bedrock on which he/she stands,

   He is his/her loving God and fortress,
      his/her shield, in whom he/she takes refuge.

 3-4 I wonder why you care, GOD—
      why do you bother with us at all?
   All we are is a puff of air;
      we're like shadows in a campfire.

 5-8 Step down out of heaven, GOD;
      ignite volcanoes in the hearts of the mountains.
   Hurl your lightenings in every direction;
      shoot your arrows this way and that.
   Reach down your hand from on high,
      deliver ______ and rescue him/her,
      from the mighty waters, from the hands of the foreigners,
      whose mouths are full of lies,
      whose right hands are deceitful.

 9-10 _______ will sing a new song to you, O God;
      on the twelve-string guitar—he/she will make music to you,

Psalm 145

 1 ________ will exalt you, my God the King;
   he/she will praise your name for ever and ever.
 2 Every day he/she will praise you
       and extol your name for ever and ever.
 3 Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise;
       his greatness no one can fathom.
 4 One generation will commend your works to another;
       they will tell of your mighty acts.
 5 _______ will speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty,
       and he/she will meditate on your wonderful works.

 14 God gives a hand to those down on their luck,
      gives a fresh start to those ready to quit.
 15 The eyes of all look to you,
       and you give them their food at the proper time.
 16 You open your hand
       and satisfy the desires of every living thing.
 17 The LORD is righteous in all his ways
       and loving toward all he has made.
 18 God's there, listening for all who pray,
      for all who pray and mean it.
 19 He fulfills the desires of those who fear him;
       he hears their cry and saves them.
 20 God sticks by all who love him,
      but it's all over for those who don't.
 21 My mouth will speak in praise of the LORD.
       Let every creature praise his holy name
       for ever and ever.
