You Are Well Graced

TNIV Scripture for Tuesday, August 5, 2008 [1 Thessalonians 5:18-23]

give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not put out the Spirit's fire. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good, reject whatever is harmful. May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The word for thanks in the New Testament means well favored or well graced. Therefore, when Paul wrote that you are to give thanks in all circumstances, he is not saying you are to be thankful for the things that are happening, but rather that you are to acknowledge  in the middle of what is going on that you are well graced by God. God's grace (perfect and awesome power) is available to you every second of every day so that you can fill with it see the fruit of it now matter how hard the circumstance.

God
Source of grace (power)
Has a will for me in Christ Jesus
Source of the Spirit
Source of peace
Sanctifier
Protector of my soul
Sender of Jesus
