No More Fig Leaves

TNIV Scripture for Monday, October 6, 2008 [Hebrews 10:19-24]

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,

Adam and Eve lost their confidence to stand before God when they disobeyed Him in the garden. In a feeble attempt to get right with God, they made some fig leaf clothing. But even with their best efforts to cover up their inadequacies, they still had no confidence to stand before God and so they hid. Thankfully, God had a plan to redeem mankind from the fall through Jesus Christ. There was no way for man to make himself right enough to enter God's presence, but now there is a way for you because Jesus blasted a man sized hole in heaven so that you could enter with confidence, full assurance of faith and draw near to a Holy God. May you exchange your fig leaves for being clothed in Christ today and enjoy drawing near to your God.
