Reach Out and Touch Jesus

TNIV Scripture for Thursday, July 17, 2008 [Luke 8:43-48]

And a woman was there who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years, but no one could heal her. She came up behind him and touched the edge of his cloak, and immediately her bleeding stopped. 'Who touched me?' Jesus asked. When they all denied it, Peter said, 'Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.' But Jesus said, 'Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.' Then the woman, seeing that she could not go unnoticed, came trembling and fell at his feet. In the presence of all the people, she told why she had touched him and how she had been instantly healed. Then he said to her, 'Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.'

Faith is making the choice to reach out and touch Jesus trusting that He can heal you. However, even if you are having trouble trusting Him, you can ask Him to help your unbelief or lack of trust (Mark 9:24) and He will!!!! When Jesus walked the earth, He healed many who reached out to Him... but those who did not, could not or would not go to Him missed out on the healing touch of Jesus. In these last days (the time between Jesus' resurrection and the second coming of Christ), Jesus still works physical healing on those who go to Him through the word and prayer, but not always. Jesus is more interested in your spiritual healing than in the physical. If you make the choice by His grace to consistently reach out to Him through the Word, prayer and fellowship with other believers, He will begin a process of healing in your life that will increasingly transform your inner life into His image. May God increase your faith in the days, months and years to come and may you reach out and touch Him often.
