23Now it came about in the course of those many days that the king of Egypt died. And the sons of Israel sighed because of the bondage, and they cried out; and their cry for help because of their bondage rose up to God.
24So God heard their groaning; and God remembered His covenant with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
25God saw the sons of Israel, and God took notice of them.
When God seems slow in responding to our cries to Him in our circumstances and pain, it helps to see how He worked in the lives of His chosen people in the Old Testament. His time is not like our time and His ways aren't like our ways, but one thing is sure throughout the Old Testament stories, God never forgot His people nor His promises to them. His promises are sure and we can hold on to them even when it looks like He isn't doing anything. In the right time and place, He will make His presence obvious and show us the solid foundation of His promises to us.
Believing that He is there always for us when we are suffering is impossible. However, as we spend time getting to know Him in the Word, in prayer and in fellowship with others asking Him to grow our faith, by His grace, we will increasingly find that even in the darkest times, the foundation under our feet is solid. He can and will believe for us that His promises our sure and He will never forget us or forsake us as we acknowledge that we cannot believe, but He can. This is a prayer He loves to answer!!!
