God Revealed and Accepted [Exodus 24]

7 Then he took the Book of the Covenant and read it to the people. They responded, "We will do everything the LORD has said; we will obey."

8 Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said, "This is the blood of the covenant that the LORD has made with you in accordance with all these words."

9 Moses and Aaron, Nadab and Abihu, and the seventy elders of Israel went up 10 and saw the God of Israel. Under his feet was something like a pavement made of sapphire, [b] clear as the sky itself. 11 But God did not raise his hand against these leaders of the Israelites; they saw God, and they ate and drank.

God revealed Himself and His standards for the protection of His people as He had never done before. Apparently, the people were so impressed by God and what God did for them that all of the people agreed to do all that He required. It is remarkable that there was unanimous agreement by the thousands of people.

As I read verses 9-11, I realized that as many times as I had read these verses before, it had never registered in my mind that 74 people had gotten to go up the mountain to see God and eat and drink in His presence. God went to great lengths to reveal Himself to the people and especially to these leaders of His people. What an awesome and caring God and what love and tender care He had for these people.

We praise You , God, that you love Your people. Thank You that You work through leaders, but You also want each of us to know You and accept You. Cause us to desire to know You more and to embrace all that You have for us this day.
